Haslemere man asks for help as his mother-in-law needs urgent heart surgery

A HASLEMERE man calls for help as his mother-in-law needs urgent heart surgery but faces huge costs.

Alex Nolan, who lives in Hatchetts Drive and works at Tesco in Haslemere, is urgently hoping to raise £3,575 for his mother-in-law Luzviminda Resumadero.

The money will go to Luzviminda’s surgery in the Philippines.

Luzviminda has a congenital heart condition – she has had an atrial septal defect since birth which has left a hole in her heart that has grown larger over the years. And Alex said her mother-in-law now needed heart surgery urgently.

“Hopefully she can have the operation at the end of the month,” he said. “The sooner she has the surgery, the better.

“The last ECG she had was three or four years ago, and her condition was treatable with medication at the time.

“Her condition has now taken a turn, however, and she is in desperate need of heart surgery. Her condition is now very serious.

“She suffered with her health since birth, but things got worse in her twenties. Despite this, she always put her health issues aside and worked for her family.

“My dad Anthony is in the Philippines with her – he was a bricklayer here, but we can’t afford the operation without support.”

Alex says any donations will be greatly appreciated.

“Whatever people can give, even if it’s just a small amount, it all helps,” he said.

“I moved to Haslemere in the summer of 2014.

“I went to college in the area and have worked here ever since – so if local people can help out that would be great.”

In addition to the effect Luzviminda’s condition had on her health, it also affected her family financially – as Luzviminda always worked to support her family and was the main breadwinner.

“Luz comes from a low-income family and they could never save or set aside money for her surgery,” Alex said.

“I did a lot of research on the surgery Luz needs, and saw a doctor performing the surgery on YouTube.”

Alex hopes to travel to the Philippines later this year to visit her father Anthony and her mother-in-law.

He said, “I had planned to go to the Philippines in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic happened.

“They’ve had strict lockdowns and are just reopening.

“My dad is there with her and has been there for over two years – he’s doing everything he can to help her.

“I hope to get there later this year.”

Alex has set up a GoFundMe page to raise £3,575 for his mother-in-law’s operation in the Philippines.
